It’s commonly admitted and demonstrated that the electrical motor is highly adapted to automotive applications. Due to its performance, a fixed gear ratio within the transmission system is sufficient. However, the efficiency of the motor is the highest on a limited range on the torque-speed curve. Some studies have already explained the benefits of efficiency by using two or three-gear ratios for automotive traction applications. Some manufacturers implemented this solution on their vehicles but it’s a mechanical solution. This presentation explores a new way of gearbox conception with a magnetic solution and the possibility of changing its gear ratio.
In this session you will hear about:
Sylvain Guémard is an expert in electric motors at OSE Group, where he has been a key contributor since March 2021. Based in Les Ponts-de-Cé, France, he supports clients in developing automotive products and participates in strategic technical committees. Sylvain enhances expertise in electric motors, focusing on actuation and propulsion within electric vehicles, including batteries and sensors. He specializes in characterizing testing and control methods for electric motors, offering support during the design, implementation, and refinement phases. His knowledge encompasses winding, electromagnetic design, mechanical, thermal, acoustic, and vibrational aspects, ensuring optimal performance and integration.
